ABOUT ME

Artist Profile

Chloe is a final year student at Cardiff Metropolitan University completing her 3-year Artist Designer: Maker degree. Since her first year, ceramics has been at the forefront of her practice aided in part by CAD Design which has helped inform her work through tooling, extruder dyes, formers and among other uses includes the visualisation of her outcomes.

She has exhibited at Insole Court where she was awarded by Cardiff Arts Council for her final outcome and has also been part of a small exhibition at Makers Guild Wales which she helped curate.

Throughout her time at university Chloe has worked collaboratively with students outside of her degree which has allowed her to incorporate a trans-disciplinary approach to her learning and research.

For her Degree Show (which unfortunately cannot be physically exhibited due to Covid-19) Chloe has taken a formalist approach, a complete turnaround from her previous projects that have been heavily informed by narrative. ‘An Exploration of Geometric Forms’ begins its journey with a series of cylindrical vessels exploring the formal potentials of a simple thrown cylinder through the process of deconstruction and reconstruction. These objects aim to convey the influences of Architecture, Suprematism, Constructivism and Formalism albeit in an accessible domestic scale.

Stepping outside of her comfort zone is not a new concept stemming from her final year but one that has developed since her first year and will continue to develop as Chloe pushes herself as both a Ceramicist and a person.
